6 Weeks Beginning May 7th, 2024 at 1PM (sign up link below)
Beginning May 7, Tuesday, at the RMPLC lease at Weld County Roads 6 and 19. This class will go for 6 weeks, meeting one day a week. A homework plan will be given to each attendee to work on until the following Tuesday. Video, email or phone consultation during the week can be utilized if necessary. The cost is $50/week and you must be a RMPLC Basic or Full Member (see membership tab for membership options). If you would like to attend but unable to make the current series, please fill out a sign up form and we will try and schedule another time time based on interest and availability.
For a dog to attend this class, they should have good obedience with here, heel and sit. Some will begin with force fetch if required, because that is the basis off of which the further work will be based. It is this work which is used to teach a dog to solidly run blind retrieves or handle on marks. An electric collar will be utilized toward the end of the work, for force-to-pile work and eventually stopping, so being already collar conditioned will be valuable, but not mandatory.
By the end of this class, a participant should be able to begin to run pattern blinds, begin swim-by and handle their dog on a marked retrieve. The place for carrying out pile work, the “T” and pattern blinds is available on the lease, which is available to club members 7 days a week.
Sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Pointing Lab Club, the class is given by Julie Bates (Knutson), a long term professional trainer with 90 GMPR titles, dozens of 4X GMPR, MH and QAA titles as well.
